With a number of regular first-team players still to return from their summer holidays, some of Arsenal’s highly-rated youngsters trained alongside the senior squad this week.

20-year-old goalkeeper Ryan Huddart was among those involved, with right-back Tafari Moore and creative midfielder Ismael Bennacer all featuring at London Colney.

All three players went out on loan last season with mixed success: Huddart’s loan spell with Eastleigh was cut short, while Moore spent the whole season in Holland with Utrecht and Bennacer impressed on his return to France with Ligue 2 side Tours.

The most interesting inclusion was that of Jordi Osei-Tutu, an attack-minded fullback who is rated highly in north London. The 18-year-old will be expected to feature more regularly at u23 level in the coming months and should he impress, could be utilised as an option in a 3-4-2-1 formation if the first-team chance arises.

The nine players who trained with the first-team on Tuesday did the same again later in the week; Reiss Nelson, Cohen Bramall, Matt Macey, Joe Willock, Marcus McGuane, Donyell Malen, Edward Nketiah, Dan Crowley and Jon Toral were all in action once more.

Some of the youngsters in Arsenal’s ranks will be making the trip to Australia ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season tour, which officially begins next week.

There is an added incentive for those keen to impress and earn more exposure before the season starts.
