Yaya Sanogo is close to joining Ligue 1 side Toulouse on a free transfer, weeks after his four-year stay at Arsenal came to an end.

  • Sanogo was released by Arsenal this summer
  • He made just 20 appearances for the club in four years

The legend of Yaya Sanogo looks set to enter a new chapter, this time in his native France.

According to The Sun, the 24-year-old is close to joining Toulouse on a free transfer following his release from Arsenal this summer.

Sanogo has had an unfortunate career blighted by several major injuries that have curtailed his development.

Despite major appearances against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and Hull City in the FA Cup final, while scoring four goals in a pre-season friendly against Benfica, Sanogo’s Arsenal career never got going.

Loans at Ajax, Crystal Palace and Charlton was also unsuccessful. It seemed a matter of time until his stay at the Emirates came to an end.

Ligue 1 is nevertheless a good level to return to given he made a name for himself in his native France.

It’s never too late to be a success and he’ll be hoping to stay injury-free to prove his worth and showcase why Arsene Wenger was so keen on him in the first place.
