Arsenal’s talented teenage winger Yassin Fortune caused a bit of a stir on social media when he posted a picture of himself in a Southampton shirt.

An image posted on his Instagram earlier this weekend had some eagle-eyed supporters baffled about where the winger’s allegiances lie and whether he – just like Nathan Tella earlier this year – had signed professional terms with Southampton in a deal that has not been announced yet.

Fortune swiftly deleted the image, though not before the internet had a chance to save it for posterity:

Fortune, 18, joined from Lens in the summer of 2015, alongside highly-rated midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide.

Fortune made 14 appearances at u18 level, as well as two cameo appearances under Steve Gatting’s management in the u23s last season but a string of troublesome injuries interrupted his campaign

If he remains injury-free, he is likely to head out on loan next season. Probably not to Southampton, though.
