Granit Xhaka spoke to Blick about the recent terror attacks in London, Wenger’s new contract and red cards.

  • Xhaka spoke on the eve of Switzerland’s game against the Faroe Islands
  • He discussed the season and recent events in London

Xhaka was asked about what he thought of the recent terror attacks in London, and about one of the terrorists wearing an Arsenal shirt.

“It’s terrible what happened,” he said. “We go to London often. There’s lot of nice places to eat, and lots of things to do. But now you have to be aware that such things can happen.”

“I heard about it [the attacker wearing an Arsenal shirt]. It’s a pity that someone can come to such thoughts.”

On the season just gone, Xhaka gave his thoughts about the two red cards he received this season and finishing the season off with an FA Cup win.

“I think every red hurts, but it always depends on when you get and against who. It’s not nice, but you have to look back on them.”

“The FA Cup was nice. Winning a title is always special. It’s great for morale.”

Xhaka’s “bad boy” reputation has preceded him this season, to the point that some pundits considered him one of the worst signings in the Premier League this season.

However, Xhaka improved considerably towards the end of the season, playing with far more discipline in a new system.

Xhaka was also happy that Wenger extended his contract.

“He’s a great coach for the club and for the players. It’s good that they stuck with the manager even though we didn’t get into the Champions League.”

Blick then changed the subject to steak and the Faroe Islands, who Switzerland play this Friday. Xhaka, weirdly, was asked if he ate steak to which he replied. “Mutton? I hear this for the first time. No”
