West Ham are planning a £50m bid to sign both Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud from Arsenal this summer, in a bid to strengthen the side to challenge for a European place next season.

  • West Ham really want a striker
  • They already have an interest in Giroud
  • Giroud and Walcott could leave if Arsenal make forward signings

When it comes to targeting centre forwards, few clubs can match West Ham’s scattergun approach. While they already have an interest in Giroud, the Daily Star report that they’re after Walcott as well. The exclusive says that West Ham are willing to bid £50m for the pair.

Giroud’s future is in doubt after he lost his first team place last season. Arsenal’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette suggests he won’t be getting that first team place back. Walcott, meanwhile, was lost in the shuffle after Arsenal’s change of formation.

Despite scoring 19 goals last season, his place in the first team looks far from assured as well. With a World Cup on the horizon, there’s a chance that both could ask to leave Arsenal. However, whether they’re willing to take a step down and join West Ham is another matter entirely.

Both players would surely attract interest from bigger clubs around Europe and would be hoping to continue playing in the Europa League and Champions League too.
