  • Burgess is set to team-up with Shad Forsythe
  • Arsenal are looking at one more appointment to the backroom team

It’s not the seismic shift that Arsenal fans may have wanted, but there have been some changes to Arsene Wenger’s backroom staff.

According to the Mirror, the latest news is that long-time fitness coach Tony Colbert is set to move into a technical role on Arsenal’s coaching team, making room for new Director of High Performance Darren Burgess.

Burgess, whose last football role was with Liverpool in 2012, will team-up with Shad Forsythe to oversee Arsenal’s health and fitness next season. Arsenal are said to be looking at least one further appointment to the backroom team.

The Gunners are still looking for a new academy director following the departure of Andries Jonker.

It’s believed Wenger’s previous coaching staff have all penned new contracts, including goalkeeping coah Gerry Peyton, who was rumoured to be stepping down due to injury.
