Bayern have completed the signing of Corentin Tolisso for £35m, after the French international turned down Arsenal and Chelsea to make the switch to the Allianz Arena from Lyon.

According to talkSPORT, Tolisso will sign a five-year deal with Bayern. The 22-year-old was coveted by a number of clubs, not least Arsenal who were believed to have made an official approach this summer.

But it’s a talented player the Gunners have lost out on and will now turn their attentions to other midfield targets. Tolisso spoke on Bayern’s official website to reveal his delight in the move.

“ I had a wonderful time with Olympique Lyon, for whom I was very grateful. Now I’m looking forward to playing at one of the best clubs in Europe. I have set myself high goals with the Bayern. Today is a great day for me,” he said.

Tolisso made 31 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring eight goals, and helped his side to the semi-finals of the Europa League. Arsenal were very keen on his services, so to miss out on a player who was very affordable will be a setback.

Another European rival have strengthened while Arsenal now have to go back to the drawing board and identify an attainable target.
