Southampton have joined Newcastle and Everton in showing interest in Calum Chambers.

  • Southampton are interested in taking their ex-player back on loan
  • Chambers’ Arsenal future in unclear
  • He spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough where he impressed as a regular starter

Chambers signed from Southampton back in 2014 but hasn’t played as many games as he would have liked.

He was loaned out to Middlesbrough last season so he could play more games, and was an ever present for them when he was fit.

His Arsenal future remains unclear, with no obvious route into the first team. There has been talk of another loan, with Newcastle and Everton both interested.

According to The S*n, Southampton are also interested in taking Chambers on loan.

Chambers came through Southampton’s academy and might welcome a return there. They’re reportedly looking to strengthen their backline, so Chambers would get plenty of game time, especially if they lose Virgil van Dijk.

There’s a chance he could play a squad role next season at Arsenal, but that might not be as beneficial to him.
