Former Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel was rumoured to be on his way to Southampton interested. But latest reports reveal he’s turned them down and wants a club more similar to Arsenal.

Reports from the Daily Mail reveal Southampton sacked manager Claude Puel and lined up Tuchel to replace the French coach. However, Tuchel is more ambitious and wants a club in the Champions League but is open to a move to a Premier League side meeting such criteria.

The 43-year-old was a target for Arsenal when Arsene Wenger’s future at the Emirates was in doubt last season, and he may still be keen on a move if the job even became vacant. Tuchel was relieved of his duties at Dortmund, having led the club to a third-place finish in the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal.

Many Arsenal supporters were keen on the German replacing Wenger as manager and will be frustrated to see he’s currently unattached, while Arsenal announce no changes to the backroom set-up, despite chief executive Ivan Gazidis suggesting an overhaul in the club hierarchy after Wenger signed a new two-year deal.
