Rumoured Arsenal target, Chris Smalling, has revealed that he’s completely focused on Manchester United.

Arsenal, as well as Leicester, West Brom, and even Tottenham, have been linked with a £20m move for Manchester United’s Smalling. However, the centre-back insists that he’s purely focused on his current club and is looking forward to getting a proper pre-season under his belt.

“[I’m looking forward to] being a part of it all because last summer I was involved in the European Championships with England,” he said.

“I’m just looking forward to getting a full pre-season under my belt and being ready for the start of the season.

“The games are my favourite thing about being on tour. [I enjoy] seeing new places and training at different facilities.

“It’s nice to see and learn about different cultures in life and sport and we quite often train at other sports teams’ facilities so it’s good to pick up little things from them.”

Smalling has struggled with injuries since signing for United from Fulham in 2010 and last season was no different.

The 26-year-old missed a total of 91 days through injury and therefore failed to make any sort of impact, which is why, it seems, that Jose Mourinho sees the England international as surplus to requirements.

While Arsene Wenger did show interest in Smalling while he was at Fulham and was even rumoured to be willing to offer Thomas Vermaelen as part of a swap deal later on, it remains to be seen whether he’s still keen or not.
