The Premier League’s proposed 19:45 kick-off time has been criticised by fan groups.

  • The Premier League are obligated to show more live games in the 2019-20
  • They believe a new 19:45 kick-off time will help achieve that
  • Fan groups have criticised the proposal for travel reasons

The group, said to be lead by fans from Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham supporters’ trusts, has claimed that the new kick-off time would cause too many travel problems, reports BBC Sport.

The Premier League is obligated by broadcasting watchdog Ofcom to show 190 live games in the 2019-20 season, which is 22 more live games than they currently broadcast.

They said they were talking with the clubs to determine how it would work and are expected to make a decision later this year.

Travelling fans are facing the prospect of very long trips on Saturday evenings and feel that the Premier League isn’t giving them enough consideration.

Arsenal fans also have a reason to be aggrieved, as they recently had to travel to Middlesbrough for a 20:00 kick off on a Monday night.

It’s an issue that affects all fans who go to games, and unfortunately it doesn’t seem the Premier League has their best interests at heart.
