Current Celtic striker Moussa Dembele is a target for half of the Premier League clubs, and with Arsenal also being linked, we thought we’d have a look at what all the fuss is about.

The 20-year-old has had a tremendous season with Celtic, making a total of 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring 32 goals and making nine assists in the process.

The young Frenchman has shown his vast range of finishing moves and is a player capable of scoring with all parts of his body.

Dembele joined Celtic in July 2016 from Fulham, at a time when Arsenal were also considering making a move for him, where he also left a trail of good performances.

In his 64 games for Fulham, the youngster scored on 19 occasions and grabbed nine assists.

Style of play

The Frenchman is a lethal striker, and even at his age he shows enough maturity in font of a goal that it often seems like he’s a seasoned veteran.

Dembele also possesses more than enough pace that helps him get into the right positions.

He somehow always finds a way to release himself from defenders and makes perfectly-timed runs. As he tries to open up space and look for runs on goal, he makes plenty of use of the whole pitch , especially around the box and the far post.

Strengths

His main strength is his finishing ability and with 32 goals in one season, there are no doubts about that.

Other than finishing, the 20-year-old has plenty of technique to dribble his way into a scoring chance. His abilities in and around the penalty box aren’t restricted to only scoring goals as the young attacker often creates chances for his teammates.

His ability to hold up the ball and make layoffs to teammates often opens up space behind the opposition’s defence that create goal-scoring opportunities.

Weakness

Like any other young player, Dembele has plenty of highs and lows in his game.

Although no-one denies his ability to score a goal, the Frenchman does lack consistency. A part of that come from the lower quality players around him, but his own concentration does sometimes present itself as a problem as he seems to go missing on the pitch from time to time.

The future

Dembele has presented himself as one of the upcoming stars of European football, and is continuing to grow with every game he plays.

His ability in front of a goal is second to none and if he were to come to the Arsenal, he would certainly prove a stern competition for Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck. If given enough time on the pitch, there is a fair chance he could become a leading striker for the club.

His move from Celtic seems imminent, and Arsenal could do worse than pursuing of a youngster that has so much talent, and plenty of time ahead of him to develop it even further.

The only real question is why they didn’t move last summer when they could have had him for free?
