Has Mesut Ozil dropped another hint that he could be extending his Arsenal contract?

Ozil has reportedly renewed his executive box at Arsenal, which suggests that he could be staying.

The playmaker has one year left on his current deal in north London and while there hasn’t been the same level of media speculation that he’s leaving this summer compared to Alexis Sanchez, who’s in the same position, there’s still every chance he could go.

However, the 28-year-old renewing his executive box, as well as his excitement over joining the squad in pre-season, appears to hint that he does intend on staying at Arsenal.

“It is really good to have pre-season with the team, in my career it has always been like that. If you play at a big tournament, especially with Germany, you really miss pre-season,” Ozil told Arsenal Player recently.

“Two years ago we went to Singapore and it was a nice experience to see the city and the fans, and to train how we do in Sydney. So I am excited to do the same in Australia. I can’t wait to go there.”

Ozil signed for the Gunners for a reported £42.5m in 2013 and has since won three FA Cups with the club.

Signing the world class number 10 from Real Madrid was supposed to be a sign that of things to come. He symbolised hope after almost a decade of not being able to compete financially.

While the German international has come under heavy unnecessary criticism from the press, he holds a special place in Gooners’ hearts.

Arsenal are expected to increase his and Alexis Sanchez’s wages by 20% if they stay in north London and help clinch Champions League football next season.
