Mesut Ozil appears to have taken another u-turn over his Arsenal contract.

Despite recent reports claiming that Ozil and Alexis Sanchez had turned down Arsenal’s offer of £280,000-a-week and were demanding an eye-watering £350,000-a-week instead, the German has now apparently changed his mind and will be signing a new contract.

While a number of big clubs, such as Manchester City and Bayern Munich, are chasing Alexis, no one seems interested in signing Ozil, which is reportedly why he’s going to stay put.

However, what seems more likely is that the 28-year-old was always going to stay. He’s spoken about his love of Arsenal and London on countless occasions and seems genuinely happy.

While he does want Champions League football and I’m sure has been negotiating for the best deal he can possibly get, he respects Arsene Wenger immensely, and if the manager has given him some reassurances over the club competing next season, I’m sure the playmaker took little convincing.

Alexis is a different story.
