As rumours circulate over Alexis Sanchez’s potential move to Manchester City this summer, former Gunner, Paul Merson, revealed which player he’d like to see at Arsenal.

Merson wants to see Arsenal sign City’s Sergio Aguero if Sanchez joins Pep Guardiola’s side this summer.

“The owner of the club saying he’s not going is dangerous because Pep might want Sanchez and I’d take Aguero all day long at Arsenal,” he told Sky Sports.

“That won’t sit well with Guardiola because he likes to be in control.”

Aguero, while injury-prone, is one of the best players in the Premier League and has been consistently since signing for City from Atletico Madrid in 2011, scoring 169 goals over all competitions.

Last season, he still managed to find the net 33 times in 3,503 minutes of football. That’s a goal roughly every 106 minutes. And that was during one of his ‘off’ seasons.

With just two years left on his current deal and the 29-year-old struggling for playing time under Pep, Aguero could be heading for the exit this summer, especially if City sign Sanchez.

No matter what the reports are saying, the likelihood of Wenger selling Arsenal’s best player directly to their title rivals is unthinkable. Not after backlash the club and manager received after allowing Robin van Persie to sign for Manchester United.

Arsenal don’t need the money and Wenger doesn’t need to the extra hassle of yet more disgruntled fans.
