Manchester City are monitoring the situation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose Arsenal future is shrouded in mystery.

  • Manchester City are interested in an Arsenal player
  • Chamberlain could leave Arsenal
  • Perhaps they want him to play right back

Another Arsenal player is rumoured to be leaving to join Manchester City this summer, with the Manchester Evening News reporting that manager Pep Guardiola are keeping an eye on the Ox.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has a year left on his Arsenal contract and negotiations for an extension haven’t been going well. He’s far away from a deal and this has opened the door to a move away from the Emirates as a result.

Manchester City need to bolster their defence and midfield for next season, with Guardiola chasing three more full-backs this summer, in addition to a deep-lying midfielder given the advancing age of Yaya Toure and Fernandinho.

Despite being a more offensive player, it’s possible Oxlade-Chamberlain could play right-back for Manchester City, just as Jesus Navas did. He did operate as a full-back and wing-back for Arsenal last season.
