Manchester City are considering signing Kingsley Coman should they fail to land key targets this summer, a player Arsenal were heavily linked with earlier this month.

  • Coman is City’s second choice after Ousmane Dembele
  • Arsenal were linked with Coman earlier this month
  • Bayern signed Coman permanently this summer

City want to revamp their squad for next season and could go for Coman should they fail to sign Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembele. That’s according to the Metro, who add that City’s interest in another winger would not impact their pursuit of Alexis Sanchez.

Arsenal were linked with Coman earlier this month but a deal failed to materialise. Despite Bayern signing the winger on a permanent basis this summer after a two-year loan spell, there are doubts about how much first-team football he would receive under Carlo Ancelotti.

If such doubts existed, you’d have to wonder why Coman agreed to join in the first place. Arsenal were looking to take advantage by offering the teenager a chance to prove himself in England but the Gunners don’t appear to be in the running anymore.

However, should Arsenal fail to sign Thomas Lemar or Riyad Mahrez this summer, they may look to Coman as an alternate option.
