Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez would prefer to join Arsenal instead of Chelsea or Liverpool this summer, according to reports.

  • Mahrez handed in a transfer request at Leicester
  • Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona have all been linked
  • A combination of more first team chances, Arsene Wenger and French players make Arsenal an attractive destination

Mahrez went public with his desire to leave Leicester City this summer and has no shortage of suitors. Of all the interested clubs, Arsenal are reportedly his preferred destination, according to Lebuteur.

The report claims that Mahrez feels he would find it easier to command a first team spot at Arsenal than he would at Liverpool or Chelsea. In addition, he’s an admirer of manager Arsene Wenger and feels that the contingent of French players at the club would help him settle in.

Arsenal are said to be keen on the Algerian winger but are being put off by Leicester’s £40m price tag. Mahrez is hoping Leicester reduce that price and honour their agreement to allow him to leave this summer.
