Liverpool are reportedly getting ready to lodge a massive bid for RB Leipzig central midfielder, Naby Keita.

Keita has been valued at £70m by Leipzig, which means that any bid, taking into account the Bundesliga side’s apparent reluctance to sell, will need to be in the region of this.

Therefore, this alleged bid will smash Liverpool’s transfer record, which they’ve only just broken this summer with the signing of Roma’s Mohamed Salah for £36.9m.

Arsenal were heavily linked with Keita earlier in the summer after the 22-year-old scored eight and assisted the same amount in the Bundesliga last season.

However, Leipzig chairman, Oliver Mintzlaf, has ruled out a move for the central midfielder, saying recently, “It would be negligent to let one of our key players go.

“Emil [Forsberg] and Naby are extremely talented and developable players.

“We are glad that we are able to keep up with their development as a club and now we can prove ourselves in the Champions League in the coming season.”

He added, “Concrete offers are not there, but let’s say, of course the guys have aroused great interest through their performances.

“That is the normal way, but we are not concerned about that.”

Keita is apparently ‘luke warm’ over a move to Liverpool, as he wants to sign for one of Europe’s ‘biggest clubs’.

The midfielder still has three years left on his deal with Leipzig, so the club are in no rush to sell.
