Arsenal’s ambitious pursuit of Kylian Mbappe continues with reports they are ready to make a new €140m bid.

L’Equipe are reporting that Arsenal will make an improved offer of €140m (£121m) for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe.

The fresh bid arrives off the back of Real Madrid reportedly making an improved offer of around €135m yesterday. Manchester City are also said to be considering making a new offer.

It’s quite something to see Arsenal willing to go toe-to-toe with Real Madrid on a transfer, but these improved offers could suggest that the club genuinely believes it can sign the striker.

Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of Mbappe and caused a stir when he and Ivan Gazidis were pictured in Nice – not far from Monaco – yesterday. Wenger feels he can entice the player to join with the promise of being a centre forward and more regular gametime than he would get at Real Madrid.

Mbappe, though, seems a cool character and has said he’ll not be rushed into any decisions. This is a huge moment in his young career so far and he’ll know just how large the fee will be should he move.

It’s certainly something worth taking his time over.

While he’s been linked with a move away, French outlet RMC say that Monaco want to offer Mbappe a new contract. It’s not the most popular option at the moment, but Mbappe remaining with Monaco is still a real possibility.
