Sampdoria forward Luis Muriel, a player Arsenal nearly signed years ago, looks set to join Sevilla this summer, in a move that could transform his career.

  • Arsenal have been watching Muriel for many years
  • Muriel has been linked with West Ham and Liverpool
  • Sevilla move could end interest in Lucas Perez

The Colombian looks set to leave Sampdoria this summer as he refused to sign a contract extension with the Serie A club. Once-called “the Colombian Ronaldo”, he been linked with a move to Liverpool and West Ham but now looks set to join Sevilla in an £18m deal, according to talkSPORT.

Should Sevilla sign the forward, it could spell the end of their interest in Lucas Perez. The Spaniard wants to leave Arsenal this summer and Sevilla were touted as one of his potential destinations given they were interested before he joined the Gunners.

Arsenal had watched Muriel closely when he was a 20-year-old, but the player remained in Italy. Sevilla have a history of signing players and selling them on for higher prices in the future so it’s not impossible for Muriel to still end up at Arsenal one day.
