Everton will no longer pursue Arsenal defender Calum Chambers as they’re closing in on Burnley’s Michael Keane this summer.

  • Keane was Everton’s first choice
  • Chambers was an option for them had they failed to sign Keane

Everton were believed to be one of a few Premier League teams interested in taking Calum Chambers on loan next season. It was reported that a move could happen should Everton fail to sign their first choice target, Michael Keane.

However, it now seems that Everton will be signing Keane in a £25m deal, according to The Sun. This would surely end whatever interest they had in Chambers.

The England international was away with the England U21 squad in the U21 European Championships, and impressed for the Young Lions at centre-back.

While he’s determined to make an impact at Arsenal, a lack of first team opportunity could see him sent out on loan again. Newcastle and Southampton are believed to be interested in taking him on loan next season.
