Arsenal are leading the race to sign Barcelona’s Arda Turan this summer, with Besiktas reportedly withdrawing their interest due to his £26m asking price.

According to talkSPORT, the Turkish Super Lig champions were keen on bringing Turan back to his home nation but have since revised their stance as a result of his lofty asking price.

Besiktas are unwilling to match Barcelona’s £26m valuation of the 30-year-old, which means Arsenal could sign Turan without any competition in the coming weeks.

The attacking-midfielder is expected to leave the Camp Nou this summer as a result of lack of playing time. He made just 18 La Liga appearances for Barcelona last season and went large periods unused by manager Luis Enrique.

Despite being subsidiary for the Catalans, Turan impressed in the brief moments he had in the Champions League, scoring four goals in 172 minutes of European football.

Arsenal could be losing up to nine players this summer and are looking to greater talent to replace them. Despite not fitting at Barcelona, Turan would be a decent acquisition so there could be movement before the new campaign.
