After being appointed manager of Barcelona, Ernesto Valverde is tasked with solving the side’s right-back crisis this summer and is considering two Spaniards from the Premier League.

According to the Metro, Barcelona are interested in Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin and Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta and will consider a lucrative bid to try and prize one of the aforementioned duo from London.

The Catalans have endured a disappointing season which saw them win just the Copa Del Rey and are desperate to build a side capable of winning back the La Liga title and challenging in Europe.

Bellerin, named in the PFA Team of the Year in 2015/16, ended this season on a much more positive note with Arsenal, impressing as a right wing-back. He’s a former Barcelona youth player and has excessive pace in addition to an attack-minded mentality.

Azpilicueta is a more pragmatic right-back than Bellerin and hasn’t even been playing in the role this season. The Chelsea man has operated as a right-sided centre-back under manager Antonio Conte but doesn’t have any attacking instincts, so it’s unlikely Valverde will consider him a transfer target.
