Atletico Madrid seem keen on former Manchester United and PSG striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

  • Atletico Madrid could sign Zlatan in January
  • Arsenal been linked more than once
  • Zlatan currently sidelined to January with cruciate knee ligament injury
  • Swedish striker scored 28 goals (all comps) for Manchester United last season
  • United choosing not to extend contract

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has refused to rule out a January move for Zlatan, who was previously linked with a switch to Arsenal.

“A lot of things can happen between now and January,” Cerezo said.

“We’ll speak with Ibrahimovic in January, but right now we can’t sign anyone.”

The 35-year-old scored 28 goals in 46 appearances for United during his season in Manchester. However, after suffering a cruciate knee injury against Anderlecht in the Europa League in April, it appears that Jose Mourinho has chosen not to extend the Swede’s deal.

Despite apparently making a speedy recovery, Zlatan is thought to be sidelined for the first half of next season, which means that any team that wants to sign him may have to pay his hefty wages for half a year without him even playing a single game.

This is why, it seems, that Atleti are talking about a January move rather than a summer one.
