Arsene Wenger apparently has very close ties with Kylian Mbappe’s family and won’t give up trying to sign him this summer.

According to BBC journalist Marc Ashdown, Arsene Wenger has very close ties with Mbappe’s family in a way not seen since Thierry Henry.

This isn’t very surprising. Wenger visited Mbappe’s home last season in an effort to convince him to join Arsenal. Mbappe decided to stay at Monaco for more game time and has since exploded onto the European stage.

It seems Wenger hopes to beat out the competition by forging a close relationship with Mbappe and his family. He runs the fine line of being accused of tapping up the player, especially given he’s keen to sign him, but his honesty over the approach is likely to keep him out of trouble.

While being on the good side of the player and his family may be useful, Arsenal would still need to agree terms with Monaco. With a world record deal at stake, that’s going to be far from easy.

It certainly seems like Arsenal have yet to give up on Mbappe, despite stepping up their interest in Alexandre Lacazette in the last week.
