Inter Milan have told Arsenal to stump up £96m if they want to sign striker Mauro Icardi.

  • Teams will have to pay a world record fee if they want the Argentinian
  • Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are interested
  • Arsenal could pay record fee for Kylian Mbappe

Icardi, 24, had yet another prolific season for Inter and remains a target for several clubs around Europe, including Arsenal.

Arsenal have been linked with just about every half-decent striker around, though you don’t see Icardi’s name come up all that often.

And according to talkSPORT, Inter’s £96m asking price might be why. The fee would be a world record and Arsenal have always been reluctant to spend big on strikers.

By some coincidence, Arsenal are currently being linked with AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and have reportedly made an improved £95m bid for the Frenchman.

It seems that a new standard price is being set for prolific young strikers around Europe. A few years ago, such high price tags would be interpreted as club’s having no intention of selling.

However, with several teams flush with cash from the new Premier League TV deal, these deals are now possible.
