Malaga’s Pablo Fornals has been heavily linked with Arsenal, but he could sign a new contract with the Spanish side.

  • Arsenal are interested in the Spanish midfielder and could sign him for just £10.5m
  • However, Malaga are moving quickly to sort out a new contract which would remove his low buyout clause

According to Mundo Deportivo, Fornals has a buyout clause of just £10.5m which could make any transfer very straightforward for Arsenal.

The midfielder has been consistently linked with Arsenal all season, specifically as a potential replacement for the injured Santi Cazorla.

Fornals has had an excellent season for Malaga, helping the Andalusia side to 11th in the table with six goals in 32 appearances.

His contract with the club runs out in 2019 and Malaga are keen to sort out a new deal that would increase his buyout clause.

Mundo Deportivo do not specify what the new buyout would be, but I imagine it would be more than double what it is now. Malaga know that Arsenal, as well as any other interested Premier League teams, are flush with cash.

This could complicate any potential move as Fornals, a product of Malaga’s academy, may want to ensure his club earn as much money from his sale as possible.

We know how Arsenal can be when the asking price suddenly shifts, so we’ll see how this plays out.
