Arsenal will be made to wait for a decision over Alexis Sanchez’s future as the player focuses on the Confederations Cup with Chile.

  • Arsenal are still awaiting clarity over Alexis’ intentions this summer
  • He has been offered a new contract worth £300k-per-week
  • Several clubs are interested should he decide to leave

According to the Evening Standard, Alexis has told Arsenal that he wants to focus entirely on the Confederations Cup for the time being, and will only consider his future when the tournament is over.

This will frustrate the Gunners, who reportedly offered the Chilean a new contract in excess of £300k-per-week some time ago but have no idea if he wants to stay or not.

Should Alexis opt to leave, the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to swoop in. Arsenal aren’t likely to sell for less than £50m.

Arsene Wenger has already said he would rather keep Sanchez and run the risk of him leaving for free next season, in an attempt to reignite negotiations during the 2017/18 campaign.
