Arsenal are believed to be interested in Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland as they need to replace Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina, both of whom are expected to leave this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are back on the trail for Butland after Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford signed for Everton for £30m. The Gunners will be losing two shot-stoppers from the squad this summer, potentially leading just Emi Martinez and Matt Macey as cover for first-choice Petr Cech.

Manager Arsene Wenger will be desperate to secure a replacement goalkeeper before having to let two talented ones leave given the inexperience of the duo Arsenal will be left with behind Cech. Butland is a very capable player and has been linked with a host of sides this summer as a result.

He won’t come cheap given how keen City are to keep him at the Bet 365 Stadium but the chance to be a long-term replacement for Cech at a club like Arsenal might prove too good to turn down. The Gunners are yet to make an official approach, but it’s unlikely Stoke would entertain any offer below £30m.
