Besiktas midfielder, Oguzhan Ozyakup, is reportedly spoiled for choice as Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham are looking to battle for his signature, while Besiktas offer him a lucrative new contract.

Ozyakup currently plays for Besiktas but the player has already expressed his desire to join one of the best European clubs to prove his worth and progress as a player.

Arsenal and Tottenham were both reported to have an interest in the midfielder but now Slaven Bilic has reportedly stepped up with West Ham. Bilic is very familiar with Ozyakup as he coached him during his two-year spell at Besiktas.

Before Bilic’s interest, Arsenal were looking firm favourites to re-sign the player, but Ozyakup may relish joining up with a manager for whom he played rather than the club that let him go.

Ozyakup made 40 appearances for Besiktas last season and managed to score five goals and make 10 assists.

The ex-Arsenal youth player has just 12 months on his contract and is priced at around £13 million by Besiktas. The club aren’t keen on selling their captain and have already prepared a lucrative five-year contract.

The club’s president Fikret Orman is denying any interest from the aforementioned clubs or that they have received any bids, and while he’s offering his player a new contract, he admitted that he wouldn’t stand in his way if a reasonable offer from a top European club arrives.

Orman said: “We will sell players if we receive the right offers.

“We have not received the right offer yet for Oguzhan and as I have said before he will only join a club of the highest level club.

“I would not for example sell him to Leicester City.

“I want him to play at the highest level.”

The 24 year-old is still holding out on agreeing a new contract with Besiktas and his future is still far from decided. He did, however, offer a hint as to where he would like to go if the offer does come:

“I have plans to play in Europe,” he said.

“I was born in Holland and developed in England at the best academy in the world.

“I trained with the best and want to relive my time at Arsenal again.”

It seems like the whole transfer now depends on the interest from Arsene Wenger and if he thinks Ozyakup could help him bring the Premier League title to the Emirates like he helped Besiktas win the Turkish League twice in a row.
