Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly becoming frustrated with Arsenal’s lack of activity over a new contract, opening up the possibility that he’ll consider his options this summer.

That’s according to a recent article in the Daily Mail which said the 23-year-old is becoming impatient in his attempts to finalise contract negotiations with the club.

The Ox has only got twelve months left on his existing deal, hence the reported need for urgency. However only at the start of this week we reported that the Ox was prepared to snub Liverpool’s advances and sign a new extension with the Gunners in the process.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were continually linked with a lucrative move to try and lure the versatile midfielder to Anfield, but it was reported that there was a ‘verbal agreement’ with the Arsenal hierarchy and a contract agreed worth £100k-per-week once it is signed.

So how could things have accelerated so quickly in the wrong direction?

Well, they probably haven’t.

The same article says, without evidence or further links, that the Ox is unhappy that formal talks are yet to commence. This is in direct contradiction to other information around at present.

Instead, the angle that the Daily Mail have gone with is that Arsenal’s lack of urgency could potentially cost them another of their best performers this summer.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to be monitoring his situation, which seems like a perfect time to mention that speculation too.

Not that any of it means anything. He will sign a new deal with Arsenal and will star for them for many years to come.
