Tottenham have reportedly bid £55m for Real Madrid striker, Alvaro Morata, who has been heavily linked with Arsenal since last summer.

  • Morata’s scored 13 La Liga goals in 23
  • Real Madrid willing to sell to highest bidder
  • Spurs tabled £55m bid
  • Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea interested

Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Morato last summer while he was at Juventus. His previous club, Real Madrid, however, decided they wanted to use their cheeky buy-back clause and bought him back for €30m.

It was suspected that the La Liga giants, without any real use for the Spain international, would simply sell him on at double the price and make a tasty profit.

They didn’t, and here we are.

Morata’s scored 13 goals and assisted five in just 23 La Liga appearances this season, which is pretty impressive considering he’s not been a regular starter. In fact, he’s only featured for 1163 minutes. That means, he’s scored a league goal roughly every 39.5 minutes.

It was rumoured back in January that Morata wanted to leave Real, with the club demanding €60m (£51.1m).

According to Spanish outlet, AS, ‘more than eight’ teams have tabled offers for the £55m star, including Spurs.

Chelsea, United, Juventus, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and a team from China, are all said to have made offers.

Morata confirmed recently that he had spoken to Spurs and Chelsea, telling the Guardian, “Various Premier League coaches called to tell me to play for them.

“I said yeah, I’d like to, that if I had to leave I would almost certainly go to London, but that I didn’t know what Madrid would do.

“I knew they’d bring me back but I didn’t know if it was to keep me or sell me.

“I spoke directly to Mauricio Pochettino and Antonio Conte, although the norm is clubs call my dad or agent.

“Madrid said they didn’t want to sell, so here I am.”

Chelsea is thought to be his mostly likely destination.
