According to a recent report in the Daily Star, Arsenal could be prepared to let Hector Bellerín join Barcelona if they get Arda Turan and highly-rated youngster Marc Cucurella as part of a swap deal.

Turan has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a few seasons now and a lack of regular minutes makes the link more credible as he’ll be keen to avoid regularly missing matches when he could be playing on a weekly basis elsewhere.

Cucurella on the other hand, 18, has been linked with a plethora of European sides. Chelsea, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund have all been said to have monitored the teenager’s situation and as his current contract enters its final few weeks, speculation about his future at the club continues to intensify.

Cucurella (C) scored during Barca’s 2-0 win over Manchester City u19s in their Group C encounter before Christmas and is highly-regarded as one of the club’s best youth prospects, though hasn’t agreed improved terms past this current summer.

He has played for Spain at u19 level and featured during Barca’s UEFA Youth League campaign as they progressed to the semi-finals before a dramatic 2-1 defeat by eventual winners RB Salzburg.

So, what’s happening?

Barcelona seem to be doing their utmost to unsettle Bellerín without paying over the odds for the Spaniard. In an article last week, Terry Gibson said that the 22-year-old hasn’t done enough to warrant his hefty price-tag this season.

Naturally that’s to be expected, though troublesome injuries have ultimately hurt his development. Nikola’s piece on a possible pick of three Barcelona midfielders in return for Bellerin was interesting but this seems like they’re trying to sweeten the deal with one of their best youth players, one that could be destined for a Premier League move anyway at some stage.

Barca don’t want to spend, Arsenal are reluctant to let Bellerin leave – and rightly so – but this speculation refuses to die.
