Tuesday’s win over Sunderland saw Arsenal seal a fourth consecutive Premier League win, ensuring the race for a top-four place went down to the final day.

The Gunners have ended the season strongly after a blip in formand Alexis Sanchez believes the players’ mentality has contributed.

“I’ve always said we have great players here. It’s just about having the mentality of being a great player and going out on to the pitch already thinking about winning.

“That’s what we’ve done in the last three games. We had the mentality to win at all costs and we won and won well,” said the Chilean international on Arsenal’s official website.

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 72 points from 37 games, going into the final game of the campaign with a chance to seal Champions League football, but their form previously almost saw their season unravelling.

Arsenal lost six games in all competitions between Jan 31 – March 18, but have turned things around with seven wins in their last eight.

Alexis Sanchez and his teammates are now coming off the back of wins against Manchester United, Southampton, Stoke City and Sunderland, and it’s clear the squad have overcome their frailties as they tend to do at this time of the season.

A change in formation from 4-2-3-1 to 3-4-2-1 has been highlighted as a reason for the turnaround, but Sanchez clearly believes improved confidence has been the most telling factor.
