Roma are reportedly interested in signing Nacho Monreal.

  • Monreal linked with Bilbao move
  • Roma’s director of football keen on Monreal
  • Left-back has just 2 years left on current deal
  • Arsenal open to selling

With Arsenal supposedly in the latter stages of signing Schalke left-back, Sead Kolasinac, it’s been widely speculated that Monreal is set to leave north London.

The Spaniard was linked with a move to Athletic Bilbao earlier in April and has already allegedly entered talks over a move.

The 31-year-old has just two years left on his current Arsenal deal and, given his age, it’s likely that the club will be looking to replace him soon.

Despite finishing the season on a high, scoring in the Gunners’ surprising 2-1 win over Manchester City to help send his team through to the FA Cup final, Monreal’s form has generally dipped. Therefore, if and when Arsenal sign Kolasinac, Monreal is expected to drop down the pecking order.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Roma’s director of football, Monchi, has picked out Monreal as a decent addition and wants the Serie A club to sign him.

Taking everything into consideration, it’s likely that Arsenal will be happy to sell and Monreal will open to a move.
