Arsenal’s versatile midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been heavily linked with a possible move to Liverpool in recent months and despite my previous piece on why the ongoing story isn’t true, the Daily Star are reporting ‘developments’ in his situation.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 23, has enjoyed his best season for Arsenal with regular minutes allowing him to showcase his quality on a consistent basis.

He’s set to enter his final year of his current contract with the Gunners and after the weekend’s FA Cup Final fixture against Chelsea, he is expected to enter talks with Arsenal this week to discuss a new deal.

However if those talks are unsuccessful, reports have suggested that he’ll angle for a move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool’s rumoured interest hasn’t come from nowhere but Jurgen Klopp previously described speculation as “nonsense” when questioned in the final days of 2016.

Links with a possible switch have since resurfaced, even though Liverpool’s main priorities lie elsewhere as they aim to strengthen in a variety of defensive and attacking areas to cope effectively with an increase in competitive fixtures next term.

A reported £35m price-tag has been placed on the Ox’s head if he decides not to sign a new contract, though it’s unlikely that negotiations will break down between himself and the club as he has repeatedly stressed his eagerness to play for Arsenal.
