According to reports from France, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez is top priority for Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

However, negotiations regarding the Chilean international will be put on hold following the announcement of departure of Olivier Letang, Paris Saint-Germain’s Director of Football.

There is a sense of disappointment regarding the work of Letang, with multiple players falling out of favour with the head coach. Hatem Ben Arfa, Jese Rodriguez and Gregorz Krychowiak are some of the players who have underperformed – coupled with the club’s failure to defend the Ligue 1 title.

As a result, Paris Saint-Germain are looking for a Director of Football to spearhead their scouting policy, with Antero Henrique and Andrea Berta the two leading candidates.

PSG are competing with Manchester City and Bayern Munich for Alexis Sanchez’s signature but won’t be making a formal approach until they’ve replaced Letang.

That waiting period could hurt PSG’s chances to sign the coveted Arsenal man given the suitors competing for his signature, but the French Ligue 1 giants want a clear and transparent policy from their next director to ensure they don’t overspend on players who don’t live up to expectations.

Sanchez’s future at the Emirates Stadium remains shrouded in doubt as his contract nears its final year. Manager Arsene Wenger insists the South American forward wants to stay at Arsenal, but until he extends his deal past next summer, clubs will continue to be linked.
