According to reports, Mesut Ozil has decided to leave the Emirates, but his destination could be a bit of a shocker – Barcelona.

TransferMarketWeb claim that Barcelona are planing to take the advantage of German not yet signing a new contract with Arsenal however Ozil’s recent interview would seem to hint at him staying in London while Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club have received no enquiries about the German.

With the stalemate regarding his contract talks, apparently because the German is determined to get a contract worth £10.5 million-a-year, Barcelona allegedly see a perfect opportunity to boost their midfield.

Ozil joined Arsenal in the summer of 2013 from Real Madrid and it remains unclear how would he feel of joining their main rivals in La Liga.

The 28-year-old is one of the main performers for Arsenal this season, contributing in scoring and creating a total of 22 goals over 38 appearances in all competitions.

Arsene Wenger’s future at the club holds many answers regarding Ozil’s contract extension and any other potential deals.

As one of the key players around which a squad should be built around, Mesut is very well worth keeping at the Emirates. Luckily, he seems to want to stay as well, making most speculation just that – speculation.
