Manchester City’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain was reportedly in London this weekend for talks over Alexis Sanchez.

• Reports claims City will match Bayern offer for the forward
• Alexis wants reunion with Pep Guardiola
• Arsenal would prefer to sell to Bayern

Goal.com claim that City are confident of beating Bayern Munich to the signing of Alexis Sanchez following talks in London, despite Arsenal making it clear they do not want to sell to them.

The S*n adds that Bayern were readying a £50 million bid for the Chilean and were prepared to pay him £10 million a year. That’s roughly £190,000 p/w, which is much less than what Arsenal are apparently offering. Alexis’ representative have allegedly flown out to Munich for talks.

City, though, believe that a reunion between Alexis and Guardiola, who were together at Barcelona, would be enough to sway the deal in their favour.

In the middle of all this, Arsenal believe that they can convince Alexis to stay at the club with a new contract that would make him the highest paid player in the club’s history.

This is a crucial time for Alexis who, at 28, is at the peak of his career and will want the chance to compete for major honours.

While Arsenal will not want to sell to a rival, City’s project will be very appealing. Guardiola plans to bring in at least six new faces, including Spurs fullback Kyle Walker.

And were it to come down to a battle of money, Bayern Munich’s strict wage structure would also work in City’s favour.

Everyone will want Alexis to move aboard but Arsenal may have little choice in the matter.
