Riyad Mahrez has made his intentions clear once more that he will leave Leicester City this summer and Arsenal appear favourites to sign him.

With speculation over Alexis Sanchez’s future at the Emirates continuing to intensify after Arturo Vidal’s latest comments, Arsenal are preparing to bolster their attacking options with a number of names on the reported shortlist.

Mahrez, who won Player of the Year during Leicester’s fairytale 2015/16 campaign, is believed to be among their transfer targets.

We’ve covered plenty on his future in recent days following recent developments, but Sky Sports have revealed more about Leicester’s asking price for the Algerian international.

He’s been deemed too expensive in terms of wage demands for Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco. Runners-up PSG and Premier League runners-up Tottenham, however, have been listed as possible destinations.

Leicester wouls rather keep Mahrez at the club, but if they have to sell him this summer they will want the most value possible. The Foxes will only sell if they receive a “substantial” transfer fee for his services in the coming months.

Mahrez has three years remaining on his existing deal with Leicester, having signed a new extension last summer following their shock Premier League title triumph. His contract does not include a buyout clause, but his asking price is believed to be around £40m.

Whether or not Arsene Wenger, who is a keen admirer of the 26-year-old, is prepared to pay that amount, remains to be seen.
