Jens Lehmann thinks that Alexis Sanchez would be a great fit at Bayern Munich even though he admits he wouldn’t really play very well in their system.

The former Arsenal keeper was speaking to Sky Deutschland at the time and it’s unlikely that his comments will be well received by Arsenal fans, who still generally still like the Mad German (at least I do).

Bayern Munich are said to have held talks with Alexis Sanchez’s agent and are believed to be prepared to break their club record fee to sign him this summer.

Arsenal, for their part, are hoping they can get Alexis to agree to a new deal, but much of that hinges on Arsenal finishing in the top four and qualifying for the Champions League – a competition Alexis feels he has to win.

“He would fit in at Bayern, although he is not the typical wide player they are seeking,” Lehmann said. “He likes to cut inside, I have seen players that make better decisions on the pitch, but perhaps he can learn that.

“He is a street footballer, you notice that when he is on the pitch. Playing him in a system is not so easy but it would be nice to see him in the Bundesliga.

“He is dangerous in front of goal and can play in a wide range of offensive positions.

“Bayern have only one genuine number nine with Lewandowski at the moment. Adding the option of Sanchez would improve their attacking quality.”

Thanks Jens…
