England u17 hammered Ireland 5-0 in Pribram and have started their tournament successfully.

They are top of Group B after Matchday 1.

Shannon Cooke and Jess N’Gunga, who both play for the Development Team managed by Kelly Smith, started the game and the Arsenal winger scored a goal in the 38th minute.

Poppy Pattinson, Beth O’Donnell, Lauren Hemp and Nicole Douglas were the other goalscorers for England.

England will play the Netherlands next on Friday in Prestice at 1600 CET. Their final group game is on Monday against Norway in Pilsen  at 1400 CET.

John Griffiths and his staff will try to go one better than last year when the team finished in third place, qualifying for the u17 World Cup in Jordan.
