As Henry Onyekuru’s reported move to Arsenal edges closer and closer, club legend Ian Wright had his say on the new potential signing.

Wright is known for speaking in his mind, especially on social media, and the ex-striker took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his excitement over Arsenal’s potentially signing KAS Eupen winger, Onyekuru.

Although Onyekuru is mostly unknown, he’s only 19, far younger than Wright was when he signed for the Gunners from Crystal Palace in 1991. He’s more of an exciting prospect than established player but his goal record in Belgium speaks for itself.

Onyekuru’s release clause is £6.8m which Arsenal are allegedly ready to pay, and considering he’s scored scoring 25 goals in 41 appearances this season, Arsenal may have themselves a good deal.

With Arsenal falling considerably short in the Premier League title race and Champions League this season, supporters were expecting to see big-name players through the door in an attempt to challenge for major silverware.

They’ve been left underwhelmed by Onyekuru’s arrival as a result but were reminded by Iam Wright how his signing was once condemend and he went on to become one of the club’s highest scorers.
