The heavyweight boxing match is between Liverpool and Jeffers’ first club, Everton.

Olympic gold medal boxer, Derry Mathews, announced the fight on Twitter.

The fight’s set to take place at Liverpool venue, Camp and Furnace.

Jeffers made 49 league appearances for Everton, where he’d started his youth career, between 1997 and 2001, scoring 18 goals.

The striker then joined Arsenal, where he spent three years, only netting four league goals in 22 appearances.

He was loaned back to the Toffees for a season in 2003 after struggling to get regular football in north London.

Jeffers then signed for Charlton in 2004.

He’s now Everton’s academy coach.

Jeffers v Thompson is scheduled for 2 July with tickets set to go on sale later this week.
