In one of the most surreal videos you’ll probably see all summer, school children dress up as Arsene Wenger and Jamie Vardy and act out a kidnapping.

  • Movie depicts Wenger kidnapping Vardy, which is why the striker hasn’t been scoring as much this season

Kids from Fairfield Community Primary School, Leicester, have created a short film in which they act out having to save Vardy from his prison underneath the Emirates after Wenger kidnapped him.

The exact plot of the movie, as explained by the Leicester Mercury, is as follows:

“Claudio Ranieri (who was City manager when they started the project) writes to detectives Cindy, Anne and Bones to tell them Jamie Vardy has been kidnapped by Arsene Wenger and he is being kept prisoner underneath the Emirates stadium.

“The trio work to find Jamie and return him to Claudio, as without him, City have not been winning or scoring for weeks on end!”

That would explain a lot. Vardy’s only scored 13 Premier League goals this season compared to the Foxes’ title winning campaign last year, when he scored 24.

The film project impressed organisers of the Literacy Film Festival so much that the children are set to travel to London on 7 June to visit the YouTube studios.

Two days later, they’ll get to watch a professionally re-filmed and edited version of their short movies played out on the BFI’s IMAX screen.
