Cesc Fabregas has said that it will be ’emotional’ when he faces Arsenal in the FA Cup final in just under two weeks’ time.

Having won his second Premier League title in the space of three seasons at Chelsea, the creative midfielder has admitted that it’ll be an emotional affair at Wembley for him personally but he wants to maintain his professionalism to help Antonio Conte achieve the double during his first season in English football.

On the game itself Fabregas said, “It will be emotional.

“It’s not as if I like to play against Arsenal because they are a club which is in my heart and they always will be. I have to put those feelings aside. You have to be professional. Of course, it means a lot to me, it’s not an ordinary game for me.

But this is football and this is what we have to do, it can happen and hopefully we can win the Double. That would be a fantastic season for Chelsea and for us. It would be fantastic for the players, for the manager, to do it in the first season after the problems we faced,” he continued.

Arsenal have struggled for consistency this season with Wenger recently mirroring Conte’s successful system by playing a formation with three central defenders to improve upon defensive weaknesses.

Since changing their formation, the Gunners have won six of their last seven matches, including a nervy semi-final win over Manchester City in late April to book their place against this season’s league champions.

On his former side’s change of system Fabregas said, “I watch Arsenal, they are playing well, they are playing a different system and maybe they are not performing fantastic in this system. But they are defensively better. They are winning and that’s important for them.

“But our belief is high, hopefully we can hurt them in the way we want.

Fabregas has started in all but one of Chelsea’s seven meetings with the Gunners since he signed. He’s also featured in every FA Cup round this term, despite making cameo appearances against both Manchester United and Tottenham in the two rounds leading up to the final where he’ll be hoping to make a significant contribution against his former employers.
