Lucas Perez’s agent, Rodrigo Fernandez Lovelle, has confirmed that the forward’s former team, Deportivo, has first option to buy back the player if he decides to leave Arsenal this summer.

  • Lucas has spent 107 days (and counting) sidelined through injury
  • Forward unhappy with lack of playing time
  • Agent confirms Lucas will sit down with Arsenal for talks over future this summer
  • Admits his client could return to Deportivo who have first option to buy forward back

Speaking to Cope Coruña, Fernandez Lovelle revealed that Lucas is set to sit down with Arsenal this summer in order to discuss his future.

“I have always told Tino Fernández (Deportivo president) that the first option would always be Deportivo, the first club we would talk to,” Fernandez Lovelle said.

“We have to thank Deportivo for having a dream with Lucas. Lucas also thinks and dreams about Deportivo because he is a heart athlete, always.”

Since signing from Deportivo for £17m less than a year ago, the Spaniard has gone from making 36 La Liga appearances a season to just 21 over all competitions for the Gunners.

The forward isn’t happy with the fact he’s struggling to get minutes under his belt, which is why he’s been linked with a return to his former club.

The thing is, Lucas has been injured quite a bit. In fact, he’s spent 107 days sidelined (and counting). So I’m not entirely sure when he’s expected to be get this game time.

Espanyol, Betis and Sevilla have all also been linked.
