Chelsea are one of the clubs being consistently linked with a move for Alexis Sanchez this summer but what do their fans think of this particular rumour?

  • Alexis has one year left on current deal
  • Bayern Munich, Manchester City, PSG and Inter Milan also linked
  • Player said to prefer move to Bayern
  • Wenger unlikely to sell to Premier League club
  • Chelsea fans keen on ‘flexible’ forward

Alexis is unlikely to sign for Chelsea for two reasons. Firstly, because Arsene Wenger wouldn’t sell a top player to a direct rival, or anyone in the Premier League for that matter, again. And secondly, Alexis would reportedly prefer a move to Bayern over any other team considering they can offer him the most in terms of financial and sporting guarantees.

Despite this, we decided to amble on over to Chelsea’s corner of the interweb to see what they thought about potentially signing the Arsenal forward.

While most of them acknowledge that Pedro, who would probably be dropped or sold if the Blues signed Alexis, is decent, they reckon that the Chilean would raise their game that bit more.

“Every good season we have I never want to replace any of the players that we have because I love them so much, but the reality is that you have to be ruthless or you end up having a season like the last one,” said one Chelsea fan.

“I love Pedro to bits, but the truth is that Sanchez is a class above.”

Another chimed in with, “Also it’s good to sign players not only for rotation, but it also brings competition and drives current players to play better to keep their spot on the team.”

While another agreed, “We don’t ‘need’ anyone, but we should always strive to become better.

“Sanchez is one of the best players in the league, certainly among the top 5-10. He’d improve our squad, our goalscoring and flexibility.”
