Arsenal are reportedly ready to hand Sead Kolasinac almost £120kpw if he decides to move to north London.

  • Kolasinac set to leave Schalke on a free this summer
  • German press claim AC Milan interested but ‘99%’ will go to Premiership
  • City and Arsenal willing to offer €7m a year
  • Player set to decide between the two clubs

While most reports claim that Kolasinac is close to signing for Arsenal on a free from Schalke, with some even saying that he’s already had a medical, the German press don’t believe this is strictly true.

Bild have always reported that Manchester City have a firm interest in signing the left-back, nicknamed the ‘Bosnian Hulk’, and the outlet still says that Arsenal’s rivals are very much in the running to get his signature this summer.

Apparently, both Arsenal and City are willing to offer €140kpw – just under £120kpw – which will give him an annual salary of €7m. 3.5 times what he earns at Schalke at the moment.

The decision will be left up to Kolasinac; the 23-year-old wants to develop and will therefore choose the team he believes will help him do so.

While City will finish higher in the league than Arsenal, thus securing Champions League football for next season, the Gunners are more likely to grant the Bosnia international a first team spot.

Nacho Monreal, while rejuvenated recently, is 31 with two years left on his current deal. The Gunners therefore look as if they could be preparing to show him the exit.

The defender has been linked with a return to Malaga, as well as Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal, and even Roma. Arsenal are obviously hunting for a replacement.
